Toronto requires a Street Work Permit before widening, relocating, reconstructing or repaving a driveway or modifying a curb or driveway entrance on City property.
A widened driveway used for parking may be treated as front-yard parking depending on the location and proposal. Toronto recommends checking with Toronto Buildings and Transportation Services.
Toronto lists driveway widening among “all other proposals” in the Zoning Applicable Law Certificate program.
Toronto says a proposal that does not meet zoning requirements may need Committee of Adjustment approval before the driveway application can proceed.
