Published fee information

Brampton's 2026 Building By-law schedule (revised February 2026) lists a $326.21 flat fee for a residential stand-alone 'Accessory Structure, Shed' building permit. The February 2026 Accessory Buildings Package also quotes $326.21. Apply only where the proposed structure REQUIRES a building permit; qualifying permit-exempt storage sheds do not have an automatic building-permit fee. Lot coverage, setbacks, property survey, drawings, and other zoning/approval conditions remain separate. Sources: City of Brampton Building By-law 387-2006 and Accessory Buildings Package (reviewed Oct. 20, 2026).

Use this as a municipal-fee reference, not as the total project budget. Design, engineering, related applications and construction costs are separate.

Scope before arithmetic

Make sure the fee belongs to your project.

Start with two separate decisions. Building permit: the City requires one from 15 m² for a storage shed, and from 10 m² for other accessory buildings such as gazebos and cabanas. Zoning: accessory structures generally belong in the rear yard, at least 0.6 m from property lines, with a 3 m height limit and a combined-area limit. Corner, ravine and rural or estate lots may have different rules.
